Recycling Process
Did you know?
Every time one of our Shred Technicians drops off a truck full of paper to be recycled we save 119 trees from being harvested. As we grow, we aim to make a significant impact on our community as well as our environment.
Recycling process
Step 1 - Documents are Shredded
Our shred units utilize the “pierce and tear” method. These scraps are then pushed through an auger where they are mixed in with thousands of pounds worth of other shredded documents.
Step 2 - Bulk Scrap Recycle
These multi-ton scraps are hauled to a paper mill to be mixed with a large amount of water and other products to break down and separate the fibers of the paper. The result is known as pulp.
The pulp is then moved through a series of screens to remove larger contaminants (i.e. staples, rubber bands, paper clips,etc.). Finally, the pulp passes over rollers to remove excess water and is heated to dry.
Step 3 - The Finished Product
The dried paper is shortened into smaller sections and sent to various manufacturers. The manufacturers use the paper to make a variety of products including newspaper printing, wrapping paper, printing paper, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.
